Opportunities for Prayer at Xavier
Prayer is an integral part of the Xavier experience. Students experience prayer in a variety of ways at a variety of times. Some of these are listed below.
- Prayer in homeroom each morning
- Daily prayer at lunch led by students
- Prayer at the beginning of classes
- All-school prayer services each Wednesday morning
- Weekly prayer services led by students in religion classes
- Monthly all-school Masses
- Optional Mass at 7 am each Friday morning
- Optional Mass at 7 am each Tuesday morning during Lent
- Eucharistic Adoration on first Fridays
- Optional rosary during X period each Thursday morning
- Annual class retreats
- Annual class reconciliation services
- Stations of the Cross for the student body
- Athletic team prayers and prayer services
- Active Rock for Life Club including annual trip to Washington DC for the March for Life
- Annual $100 bill project that models the Parable of the Talents
- Annual service trip to the Dominican Republic during Easter vacation
- Annual Chicago Urban Immersion Retreat
- Biannual service trip to an Indian reservation in Montana
- Annual Help Your Neighbor Day where the entire student body and over 100 teachers and parents provide service to the community for an afternoon.
- Annual 6th/9th Grade Service Retreat that includes a retreat in the morning and community service in the afternoon
- Mother/Daughter Lunch and Reflection
- Father/Son Dinner and Evening of Reflection
- Numerous service opportunities in clubs and athletic teams
